
Donald R. Heldman (Dick), 33°, was born January 10, 1959, in Cambridge, Ohio the son of Donald G. and Delores E. Heldman. His father and maternal grandfather were members of Cambridge Lodge No. 66, and his father was a member of The Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge. His mother was a member of Guernsey Chapter O.E.S. No. 211. His paternal grandfather was a member of Harmar Lodge No. 390 in Marietta, OH.
He married Susan L. Perry in 1986, they have one daughter Kristen (Randy Porter) and two grandsons, Cole and Drew. In 1998 they relocated from Cambridge to the Akron/Kent area where they currently reside.
In 1979, he received a degree in Petroleum Engineering from Zane State College. Like his father and paternal grandfather, Dick spent his career working in the Oil & Gas Industry and served in various capacities for several Oil & Gas Exploration and Production Companies throughout the Appalachian Basin. His chosen area of expertise was oil & gas production, as a result in 2000 he and Susan formed Asset Management, Inc., an oil & gas production company operating in Northeastern Ohio. In October of 2025 after 25 years in business Dick and Susan retired & closed Asset Management Inc. marking a career spanning 46 years in the Oil and Gas Industry for Dick.
Brother Heldman was raised a Master Mason in Cambridge Lodge No. 66, in 1992. He served as Worshipful Master 1995-96. He also served as a Trustee and Chaplain until relocating to Northeast Ohio. In 2016 he joined Rockton Lodge No. 316 in Kent, OH as a plural member.
In 1992 Brother Heldman joined the A.A.S.R Valley of Cambridge. He served as Thrice Potent Master 2004-2006. He served on the Executive Committee from 2004-2014 and as Chairman from 2010-2014. He was the director of the 14thdegree from 2006-2014 and participated in the 4th, 14th, 23rd and 32nd degrees. He was also an officer in Guernsey Consistory until he was elected an Active Member of The Supreme Council of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. He is a charter member of The Valley of Gallipolis.
August 30, 2005, he was coronated a 33°, Sovereign Grand Inspector General an Honorary Member of the Supreme Council, NMJ in Grand Rapids, MI. August 23, 2014, he was crowned an Active Member of the Supreme Council in Lexington, MA. In 2017 he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Children’s Dyslexia Centers, Inc. in Lexington, MA and currently serves as Secretary. He serves on the Sovereign Grand Commanders Administrative Council and serves as Chairman of the Finance Committee. He also serves on the Governance, Nominations and Investment Committees. In 2019, he was appointed Grand Captain General of the Supreme Council. In 2021 he was elected Deputy of the Supreme Council for Ohio, and as such is Commander-in-Chief of the Ohio Council of Deliberation.
Brother Heldman is a member of the following York Rite Bodies in Ohio; Kent Chapter No. 192 R.A.M., Cuyahoga Falls Council No. 144, R.& S.M., Cuyahoga Falls Commandery, No. 83 K.T., Cleveland York Rite College No. 13, Knight Companion of Holyrood Conclave Red Cross of Constantine.
He is a member of the Aladdin Shrine in Columbus, OH.
In 2022, he received the Honorary Legion of Honor from Ohio DeMolay.
In 2023, he was selected as a Knight Commander of the Temple by the Ohio College of Honors.
In 2024, he was elected an Honorary member of DeMolay International’s Supreme Council.
August 25th, 2025, he received the medal for Distinguished Service by Sovereign Grand Commander Illustrious Walter F. Wheeler, 33° at the Supreme Council Session in Indianapolis, IN.
